Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Library

A stack of books. An image of text which reads, A library is not a luxury but one of the necessities of life. --Henry Ward Beecher.
We're sorry, but the library is not searchable online at this time. We will get this feature back up as soon as we can. Until then, please contact the librarian for help.

Thank you for your patience.

Walk-In Hours: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The KCDHH Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Library has accumulated resources that will benefit anyone having connections to deaf and hard of hearing individuals, whether they are parents, educators, interpreters, physicians, family and friends, or day care providers.

We have books, videotapes, periodicals and reference materials that cover a broad range of topics including, but not limited to:

  • American Sign Language
  • Children's Literature
  • Cochlear Implants
  • Deaf Culture
  • Family Resources
  • Speech reading
  • Mental Health
  • Speech and Language

It is our goal to eventually create and maintain a network with all libraries in the state, allowing us to give everyone access to information on deafness and hearing loss.

If you live more than 50 miles from Frankfort, you may have materials sent to you through the mail. Return postage is pre-paid for your convenience and there is a two-item limit.

All materials checked out of the KCDHH Deaf and Hard of Hearing Resource Library will have a two-week loan period. If you want to keep the materials for an extended period of time, please contact our office and we will renew your loan period.

A user agreement form will be sent with your first order. Please fill this out in its entirety and return it when you return your materials. This will become your library card and will be kept on file to use each time you request materials.

Periodicals and Reference materials are for in house use only.
